Nissan will showcase a heavily altered original Z at the 2026 SEMA Show, swapping the current model’s twin-turbo V6 and six-speed manual for a classic 240Z silhouette built with the help of Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg.
Modern Powertrain Inside Classic Shell
The project, called the Datsun S30 Concept, houses the VR30DDTT twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that powers today’s Z, now paired with Garrett PMAX turbos, Nismo cold-air intakes and a dedicated heat exchanger.
Although Nissan has not released a final output figure, the upgraded turbo package is expected to exceed the stock 400 horsepower rating.
Power reaches the rear wheels through a Nissan Z FS6 six-speed manual transmission, a Nismo twin-disc clutch, a lightweight flywheel and an R200 limited-slip differential.
The engine draws fuel from a 10-gallon Radium Engineering cell and a DeatschWerks 450 L/h pump, components chosen for sustained high-boost operation rather than a static display.
Custom carbon-fiber panels replace the front fenders, hood, air dam, bumpers, hatch and spoiler, all finished in Nissan Seiran Blue with its 40th-anniversary decal, preserving the S30’s original outline while shedding weight.
Wilwood provides six-piston front calipers on 300-mm two-piece rotors and four-piston rear units on 280-mm rotors, while forged Nismo LM-RS6 wheels sized 17 × 9 in carry the brake package.
The Datsun S30 Concept will appear at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas from November 3-6, alongside Nissan’s Project NAT2 Z race car and a revived Sentra Spec V concept, providing visitors a clear view of the brand’s simultaneous focus on racing and everyday performance.
