
Automobili Mignatta will unveil its next supercar, the Rina Coupe, at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Italian automaker, based in Piedmont, used the British event to release the first sketches of the model, which is set to arrive in 2027.
The Rina Coupe joins the existing Rina Barchetta in the lineup. It keeps the brand’s core philosophy but adopts a closed body style, inspired by 1960s Italian grand tourers. The design features a “double-bubble” roof and a Kamm-style rear end with twin round taillights—elements that merge classic sports-car aesthetics with modern execution.
The V8 and manual transmission remain central
The car’s mechanical setup stays true to Mignatta’s analog-focused approach. A carbon-fiber monocoque forms the structure, while a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 produces 493 horsepower. Power is routed through a six-speed manual transaxle, a choice that favors driver engagement over automation.
This setup has become rare in modern supercars, where hybrid systems and dual-clutch transmissions are now standard. The decision to retain it shows resistance among niche manufacturers to abandon traditional driving experiences, even as emissions rules push the industry toward electrification.
At Goodwood, the company also displayed an updated Rina Barchetta. The new version sports a light-colored finish to emphasize its shape, a tribute to Piedmont’s “battilastra”—craftsmen who once hand-shaped bodywork for classic Italian sports cars. Forged-carbon details, a redesigned shifter gate, and machined-from-solid components highlight its artisanal roots.
Weight savings through carbon-fiber driveshaft
The Barchetta’s display included several technical parts, among them a carbon-fiber driveshaft. The component cuts weight and sharpens dynamic response, a small but meaningful gain in a car where every gram matters.

Mignatta’s use of lightweight materials goes beyond the driveshaft. The monocoque, wheels, and interior elements all rely on carbon fiber or forged composites, a strategy that maintains a strong power-to-weight ratio without forced induction or hybrid systems.
The Rina Coupe’s sketches suggest a similar approach, though full specifications remain undisclosed. Suspension tuning, aerodynamics, and performance targets are still unconfirmed, but the focus on analog driving implies a preference for mechanical feedback over electronic aids.
Goodwood also let Mignatta present its broader vision. The event’s timing, just before the Coupe’s 2027 debut, positions the brand as a contrast to larger automakers rushing toward electrification. While companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini roll out hybrid V12s and all-electric concepts, Mignatta’s dedication to naturally aspirated engines and manual transmissions feels intentionally old-school.
The Rina Coupe won’t match the speed or technology of rivals. Still, it shows there is demand for cars that value purity over raw performance. Whether that demand is enough to sustain the business will become clear when production begins.
