Ten European nations are now using the Ineos Grenadier for military, counterterrorism, or border patrol duties.

The Ineos Grenadier has secured significant contract tenders with the Italian Army and Austrian Government, marking a major step forward for the British-designed 4×4 in European military markets. The vehicle is now in use by 10 countries across the continent. These new contracts signify the first time sovereign defense forces have placed orders for the Grenadier.

Italian Army Places Substantial Order Through Local Distributor

The Italian Army has placed a substantial order for the Ineos Grenadier in military specification through its local distributor, ATFlow. This marks the first instance of a NATO member selecting the Grenadier for a military contract. Separately, the Austrian Government chose a tender from Valentin Tusch GmbH, a vehicle armor and conversion specialist, to utilize the Grenadier as the foundation for vehicles serving Austria’s defense and interior security forces.

Valentin Tusch will modify the Grenadier to provide enhanced protection for Austrian military and security operations.

Both the Italian and Austrian tenders emphasized the Grenadier’s adaptable body options, various wheelbase configurations, and straightforward maintenance as key factors in their decision. Mike Whittington, chief commercial officer at Ineos Automotive, commented: “In a world where geopolitical tensions are rising, and military forces are bolstering their capabilities and resilience, they need the best modern equipment available.”

“As a robust and highly capable vehicle, this is what the Grenadier was built for – to unremittingly serve armed forces in mission-critical roles,” Whittington continued. He noted that these military agreements demonstrate strong confidence in the Grenadier, with ongoing discussions with other nations’ defense procurement teams.

The Grenadier is already in service with counterterrorism and tactical units in Germany, France, and Spain, as well as security and border forces in Eastern Europe, including Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Slovakia.

Earlier this year, Ineos announced the Team Grenadier consortium to develop vehicles for potential British Army use. The company continues to pursue opportunities with other European defense forces as the Grenadier gains recognition in military applications.
