Hyundai has opened orders for its new Ioniq 3 electric hatchback, offering qualifying models a maximum government grant discount. The vehicle meets Band 1 Electric Car Grant criteria, providing a reduction of up to £3,750 across the model range.

The entry-level Ioniq 3 starts at £18,495 after the grant, positioning it below the Renault 5 E-Tech and Ford Puma Gen-E in price. Customers who reserved early received a saving of £1,500, now convertible to the full grant amount upon ordering.

The Ioniq 3 features class-leading aerodynamics, delivering up to 308 miles of WLTP-tested range with its standard 61kWh battery. The five-seat hatchback offers 441 litres of boot space, which exceeds the practicality of many larger competitors in this segment.

The base Advance trim, priced at £18,495, includes a 42kWh battery and 147hp motor, targeting urban drivers with a range of 214 miles. Higher trims with the larger battery start at £21,995, while Premium, Ultimate, and N Line Evo variants expand the available options significantly.

All other versions of the Ioniq 3 are fitted with a larger 61kWh battery pack and slightly less powerful 135hp motor. The car introduces Hyundai‘s new Pleos Connect infotainment system, running on an Android-based platform, marking the company’s first European use of this technology.

Finance options launch alongside the Ioniq 3, with the 61kWh Advance model available from £355 per month. The 48-month deal requires a £355 customer deposit, and has an APR of 8.9 percent. Ashley Andrew, Hyundai Motor UK president, noted that the model’s pre-launch interest exceeded any previous Hyundai introduction in the UK market.

“Securing the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant across every version means we can now turn that interest into orders at a price that puts a genuinely spacious, long-range electric car within reach of far more drivers,” Andrew stated. With cars arriving in our retailers this month, we’re expecting its popularity to continue as more potential buyers manage to get behind the wheel.
