Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna gave Tesla’s redesigned Roadster a rare perfect score, rating it 10 out of 10 for both technology and presentation. His comments came during a Quattroruote automotive conference, just after Tesla showcased the car’s updated design in Texas.

A Spectacle of Innovation

Tesla unveiled the next-generation Roadster at SpaceX’s facility near Waco, Texas. The event was a display of showmanship, with the car performing stunts like driving up a ramp, staying attached upside down using a suction fan, and launching off with compressed-gas thrusters derived from SpaceX technology.

The Roadster is framed as a 2028 model, though this is an ambitious target, given past delays. Vigna’s praise focused on the presentation and engineering, not the delivery timeline. “We have to keep dreaming,” he said, highlighting the industry’s need for continued innovation.

Collaboration as a Catalyst

Vigna also commended Tesla’s decision to work with an external design studio, a move he believes pushed the Roadster’s boundaries. This approach mirrors Ferrari‘s own strategy for its first fully electric model, the Luce, developed in partnership with Jony Ive’s design studio, LoveFrom.

The Luce’s debut in May 2026 was met with mixed reactions, causing Ferrari’s stock to drop. Despite this, Vigna has publicly defended the project, and Ferrari continues to expand its electrified lineup, including a focus on biofuels.
