Chinese luxury auto brand Zeekr has recorded its best sales month ever in Australia, cracking 2000 monthly deliveries for the first time in July. The milestone comes as its popular 7X mid-size SUV nearly entered the list of top-10 nameplates last month, signaling a strong foothold for the newcomer.
Launched locally in late 2024, the domestic premium brand of the Geely Auto Group has effectively doubled its monthly sales volume in Australia over the past three months. In July, the brand posted massive year-on-year sales growth of 2837.5 percent with 2115 registrations. Geely also serves as the parent company for Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus.
Leading the charge was the 7X electric SUV, which notched up 1892 registrations in July. This result placed it 11th in the overall nameplate standings, finishing less than 150 units behind its Group cousin, the Geely EX5. The EX5 secured the 10th position with 2034 units sold.
Zeekr is now ranked among Australia’s most popular car brands. Its July result positioned it 17th out of about 75 brands for the month, placing it ahead of established industry heavyweights. The brand outsold well-known competitors like Volkswagen, Nissan, BMW, Honda, and Lexus during the period.

7X Drives Record Volume
A strong response to the updated Zeekr X compact electric SUV translated to a healthy first month of deliveries. The model recorded 211 sales last month, marking an increase of 229.7 percent compared to its July 2025 result. The updated MY26 specification appears to be driving renewed interest in the smaller segment.
Less impressive was the market performance of the Zeekr 009 electric people mover. The vehicle found only 12 new homes last month, though this still represented growth of 50 percent compared to July 2025. It remains a niche offering within the brand’s growing portfolio.
This rapid escalation in volume highlights the volatility of the current automotive market, where new entrants can disrupt established hierarchies faster than legacy manufacturers can pivot their production lines. Consumers are increasingly voting with their wallets for technology-heavy options, forcing traditional brands to accelerate their own electric timelines or risk losing market share permanently.
Network Expansion and Future Plans
“To move from our first 1000-sales month to more than 2000 sales just three months later demonstrates the growing confidence Australian customers have in the Zeekr brand and the strong response to the MY26 X,” said Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li in a statement.

He stated that the result reflects the momentum building across Australia as more customers discover that they do not have to compromise on technology, design, or value. Li noted that Australians increasingly expect all of these qualities in one vehicle.
The Chinese premium brand now operates 18 retail locations across Australia. The network expanded recently with the addition of a new Gold Coast outlet, and further expansion is planned throughout the rest of this year. The physical stores are being used to help support the surge of inquiries.
To further boost its sales footprint, Zeekr plans to double its Australian model lineup in the coming 12 months. The company will introduce several hotly anticipated models to local buyers. These include the 7GT electric wagon and the 8X and 9X extended-range hybrid luxury SUVs.
