Zeekr 7X owners share their experiences - zeekr 7x
Over 10,000 Zeekr 7X units were sold in Australia this year.

The Zeekr 7X has become a popular choice in Australia, with over 10,000 units sold so far this year. The car’s success can be attributed to its unique features, such as its all-electric medium SUV design and focus on safety.

One of the earliest adopters of the Zeekr 7X in Australia was Adam, who placed his order on May 22, 2025. He was impressed by the car’s styling and technology, having followed its international launch in August 2024. Despite some initial delays, Adam finally took delivery of his car on December 19, 2025.

Adam’s experience with the Zeekr 7X has been mostly positive, with some minor issues related to the car’s technology. He has encountered problems with the digital key access and the cruise control’s auto lane change system, which he found to be “dangerous” and has since turned off. Additionally, Adam had an issue with a pothole blowing his tire, but he was able to get assistance from Zeekr’s support line.

Owner Experiences

Another owner, Justin, test-drove several electric cars before settling on the Zeekr 7X. He was drawn to the car’s value for money, particularly with the launch deal that included a longer warranty and a free wall charger. Justin took delivery of his car on November 21, 2025, and has since encountered some technical issues, including a problem with the auto hold system.

Technical Issues Emerge

Justin’s car has displayed a fault message on the driver display, reading “Auto hold system service required. Contact Zeekr support.” Despite attempts to fix the issue, the problem persists. However, Justin is generally satisfied with his 7X, finding it to be comfortable, efficient, and with excellent range. He notes that the only thing he would warn people about is the brake issue.

Angela, a Sydney-based owner, collected her Zeekr 7X Performance AWD in January 2026. She initially ordered a BYD Seal Performance but canceled it to purchase the 7X instead. Angela is pleased with her decision, finding the 7X to be a better car and experience. She appreciates the car’s seamless transition to electric, as well as its customizable features and luxurious feel.

Angela’s only gripe is with the electric doors, which she finds annoying due to the lack of manual opening capability. However, she is overall satisfied with her 7X, finding it to be perfect for her family’s needs. The car’s footprint is ideal for her three pre-teens and teenagers, and she appreciates the ample space in the boot for weekend getaways.

Ben, another owner, purchased his Zeekr 7X by chance after seeing an ad on Instagram. Ben’s purchase was facilitated by his partner, and he describes the buying experience as “the best mistake ever.” He finds the 7X to be a “grown-up car” that is comfortable and economical.

Ben’s only issue with the car was a brief learning curve when carrying out a routine over-the-air software update. He received a notification on his phone to install the update, but it shut down the car, leaving him stranded on the side of the road for half an hour. Despite this, Ben is generally satisfied with his 7X and has not encountered any major issues.

Mixed Owner Experiences

As the Zeekr 7X continues to gain popularity in Australia, it is clear that owners have mixed experiences with the car. While some have encountered technical issues, others have found the car to be a pleasant surprise. With its unique features and focus on safety, the Zeekr 7X is likely to remain a popular choice for Australian car buyers. The car’s success can be attributed to its ability to meet the needs of families like Angela’s, who appreciate its spacious interior and luxurious feel.

Meanwhile, owners like Adam and Justin are dealing with the car’s technical issues, with some finding workarounds and others waiting for official fixes. One thing is certain: the Zeekr 7X has made a significant impact on the Australian car market, and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Adam’s experience with the car’s technology issues has been a learning curve, and he notes that the electric vehicle market is constantly evolving.

Justin, for example, has learned to deal with the auto hold system problem by leaving the car for 20 minutes and then locking and unlocking it. Despite this, he is still waiting for an official fix from Zeekr Australia.

Angela has found that the car’s features, such as the heated and cooled seats, have made her daily commute more enjoyable. She also appreciates the customizable features, including the internal light color, which adds a fun touch to the car’s interior.

Support and Resolution

The Zeekr 7X’s support line has been helpful in resolving issues, as seen in Adam’s experience with the blown tire. The support team provided him with guidance on what to do to get the car going, and he was able to use his roadside assistance coverage to get the vehicle towed.

The car remains a top 10 best-selling vehicle in the country, and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Zeekr has sold over 10,000 units so far this year, with 9,000 of those being 7X variants, and the car continues to be a popular choice for Australian car buyers.
